Back To School Guide: COVID-19 Edition

It’s that time of the year again… back to school! Although, this year (just like most everything else) things are going to be a little different.

To make it a little easier on those returning to school this year, we’re here to outline some of the guidelines set my school boards on how classes will be resuming, and some recommended backpack essentials to stay safe!

Back To School

Each province is implementing its own plan. We’ll highlight the top 3 provinces our travellers come from!

Alberta: Here is a guide to the 3 scenarios they will be operating under. As of now, in-class instruction will resume as usual, with everyone required to wear a mask and follow typical sanitization practices.

British Columbia: Classes will be resuming, but will be using “learning groups” meaning students will only cross paths with 120 people. Here you can read a full comprehensive explanation.

Ontario: Classes will be resuming as outlined here, and specifically in Toronto, classes with be scheduled for alternating days to reduce interaction as outlined here.

Back to School During COVID-19 Essentials

In a pre-pandemic world, you’d be shopping for the best highlighters or the coolest backpack, but this year the essentials are a little different.

  1. Face masks

We know this is a given, but it’s still important to make sure you have a clean (preferably reusable) mask, and even a backup mask or two in case it comes in contact with other bacteria throughout the day.

  1. Hand sanitizer

Another obvious but important one because it is especially difficult to make sure to keep hands clean while moving between classes and to/from school. Get a sanitizer in your favorite scent and that includes a moisturizer like aloe or vitamin E to keep your hands soft throughout the day!

  1. Single serving snacks and drinks

Even though we believe “sharing is caring”, single-serving snacks and drinks are much safer when going back to school during COVID-19. This ensures that there is little to no chance for transmission of bacteria during the few times students will be interacting outside of the classroom.

We know this is a lot of new information, but remember there’s so much to look forward to!  Ceremony trips are right around the corner, so make sure to follow us on Instagram & TikTok, and Like us on Facebook to see all trip updates!
