How to Travel the World During Quarantine

Welcome to week #100…I mean week #11… of quarantine. Being stuck inside is the perfect fuel for some daydreams. Although we all miss being able to travel, believe it or not, we can still explore the wonders of the world while being trapped at home, and we’ll show you how!

Make Custom Memorabilia from Past Adventures

Cure your wanderlust and spark your creativity all in one! Creating customizable souvenirs helps add a personal touch to the items you’ve collected from the places you’ve travelled to. There are so many different ways to do this, so you can customize it to your tastes and to your home! Here are a few examples:

  • Shadow Box: This is a great way to combine all the smaller items you’ve collected into one piece of art. You can use plane tickets, receipts for excursions, leftover coins or bills, and natural elements like flowers, shells or rocks.
  • Miniature Map Magnets: These little guys are the perfect way to be reminded of those good time traveling on the daily! Focus in on the exact spot you’ve traveled to, and since the frames are miniature, this is typically a city or region as opposed to an entire country. Keep them on your fridge and reminisce while making your morning coffee!

Coin Pendant Necklace: Turn leftover currency into jewelry! Memorabilia made fashionable.

Have a Destination Inspired Theme Night

Get in the spirit of the destination you’re dreaming of by bringing the destination to your home! Have a dinner party for you and your family that is themed around the country you desire to travel to, complete with themed food, outfits, and entertainment! Here are a couple of ideas to get you started:

  • Italy: Try to make your own pasta, choose an outfit that coordinates with the Italian traditional colours of red, white and green, and take in some classics that take place in this country like Roman Holiday or Letters to Juliet!
  • Greece: With simple and whole ingredients, traditional Greek dishes are so easy to make at home. Dress in blue and white to match the iconic Greek scenery, and have a sing-a-long to Mamma Mia!
  • Mexico: Have a taco night, attempt some traditional Day of the Dead makeup, and watch the Disney movie that revolves around this Mexican holiday, Coco!

Plan Your Next Getaway

The best way to scratch that travel itch is, of course, to plan for your next adventure! Will it be somewhere tropical to sit back and relax, or somewhere to explore and discover new hidden treasures? There are endless possibilities! Check out this list for even more inspiration.

Although we know it feels like this lockdown is neverending, we will eventually be able to enjoy the wonders of the world again. Happy exploring!
